Horse Breeds

Marwari Horse

The Marwari is a native breed from the Marwar region in Rajasthan. Best suited, it was used by the 12th century Rajputs in that region because of their boldness, steadfastness and loyalty. It is a medium-sized, elegant horse and is distinguished by its lyre-shaped ears which curve inwards with the tips meeting in the middle. It has a broad forehead, wide-set and alert eyes and a well-shaped small mouth. The Marwari carries its head proudly on an arched neck, with straight legs and small, neatly-shaped hooves.

Prepare for Your Safari Adventure

01
Camp Information

Our camp is situated south-east of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The Horseback Safari Camp is located just outside the village, away from the hustle and bustle of village life. The riding terrain from camp is scenic and varied in all directions. Typically safaris are for five to seven nights but we are happy to arrange safaris to suit your requirements. We can also offer you the experience of staying at one of our mobile fly camps, weather permitting, enabling you to experience the areas further afield.

02
Riding Information

We spend five to six hours a day in the saddle with groups of no more than eight guests. You will need to be confident in the saddle and capable of riding at all paces; trotting and cantering in full control of your horse. We also conduct safaris to other places such as Shekhawati, Jodhpur and Udaipur. We are able to arrange shorter safaris of approximately three or four days around Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park, Pusker and many other fairs. Please do not hesitate to ask us if you would like to do any other route as we will try our best to arrange it!

03
What should you bring with you?

To avoid any inconvenience during the safari, you are requested to bring your own riding boots, chaps, helmets, hats, caps, riding gloves, jodhpurs/jeans, long-sleeved shirts, scarves for the dust, sunscreen lotion, insect repellent, anti-malaria pills (as advised by your doctor before travelling) and other personal medications. A jacket/cardigan for the cooler evenings is advisable and swimming kit (some of the hotels have pools). You may bring your own stirrups if you feel our standard size might not fit. Some guests like to bring their seat-savers too and we can fit them easily to our saddles.
